X Factor's Miss Dynamix singer Jeanette Akua reveals kidnap ordeal: 'I thought I was going to die'

Miss Dynamix might have had a rocky start to The X Factor, but singer Jeanette Akua has faced a lot more challenging situations, this week revealing that she was subjected to a terrifying ordeal back in her native South Africa, where she was held hostage at gun point. Abducted by an armed gang in Johannesberg, the 21-year-old singer was freed after her boss paid a ransom of £400, but not before she and the girls she was with were threatened.

“I thought they were going to kill us," she told 3AM. "In South Africa people are murdered for less than 2p. You hear about these stories but you never think it will happen to you.”

Speaking out about the experience, Jeanette explained that the situation arose after she took a job handing out flyers in a dangerouse area of the South African city.
