Thanks to shows like The X Factor and The Voice and American Idol and pretty much every single singing competition programme we've ever watched, we were starting to believe that becoming a pop star was actually a pretty easy thing.
You turn up and chat to Dermot in a trendy, yet sensible outfit - you sing in front of some judges that include a sassy girl that isn't afraid to tell it how it is and then you get an amazing makeover for the live shows where you'll probably make it midway through before being sent home in a scandalous deadlock type situation.
