We know it was the Great British Songbook week on X Factor this week, and it’s not really very British to get all emotional and break down in hysterical tears (we usually just tut disapprovingly), but tonight the tears are REAL as Sam Callahan has been sent home from the show. SADDEST OF SADFACES.
Yup - after weeks of criticism from the judges, Sammy boy faced actual Luke Friend (gasp shock horror) in the sing-off, and it was potentially the hardest decision we've had to make since wondering if it's too soon to start on the advent calendar.
It's not, by the way.
Sam went out on a high, surprising the judges (including GARY BARLOW) with his really rather awesome performance of Iris while Friendy knocked everyone's bloody socks off with I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. But it wasn't enough, with all the judges (except Louis, obvs) voting to give him the boot. WAH.
