Matt Clough: How the Great British Bake Off Called Time on Reality TV Rudeness

There is absolutely nothing malicious in any facet of Bake Off. The contestants all seem to get along swimmingly, warmly congratulating each other on successes and commiserating with evictees rather than bounding off stage toward the next round, fists pumping.

James Arthur performs new album track 'New Tattoo' - Watch

When James Arthur isn't getting all social media sassy with X Factor contestants past and present, he's actually a bloody good little popstar. And now, after smashing into the singles chart at number two with his proper debut single You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You last weekend, he's just premiered a track from his brand spankin' new album. Hoorah.

Yep - Jarth's been standing about in a room with some credible-looking musicians to perform New Tattoo, which we reckon he probably wrote about the One Direction fellas' fondness for perma-doodles. And ooh, it's a good 'un.

Lady Gaga wears a dress made from old skin (well, it’s meant to look like it anyway) - PICS

We’re only just recovering from Lady Gaga’s nearly naked X Factor performance on Sunday (seriously, that crawling will haunt us for a while). So when we googled her this morning to find out what she’d been up to since, we nearly declared that we were SO DONE, when we saw that she’d been wearing a dress made of OLD SKIN. Yep. Old. Skin.

Turns out that news websites were just trying to cause a bit of a stir with a good old misleading headline, and actually it just looks a bit like old skin, so that's not quite as good but it’s still a frickin’ weird dress.

Lady Gaga

AGH. While it’s not exactly as vom-causingly gross as we originally thought, Gaga’s latest ensemble was definitely still aboslutely ruddy terrifying. She stepped out from her London hotel in this cream coloured dress, which featured a high neckline, slashed sleeves and a crazy full fringed skirt, which to be fair, did look a bit like a snake shedding its skin or something.

The X Factor's Nicholas Macdonald says he could 'just die tomorrow' due to rare heart condition

He may be second favourite to win this year's series of The X Factor after Tamera Foster, but it turns out telly talent shows could be the least of Nicholas Macdonald's worries. Our fave Scottish singer's opened up about his rare heart condition, revealing that he almost DIED when he was eight.

Nicholas has to take daily medicaton to keep his problem under control, otherwise he could apparently 'just die tomorrow'.

Nicholas suffered a life-threatening heart attack and swallowed his tongue whilst playing football as a kid, with his coach running to his rescue. Chatting to the Daily Star, he explained: “I was playing football and all I remember was passing the ball and collapsing. I was later told that I’d had a cardiac arrest and died. After about a year I thought ‘I don’t want to spend my life being too scared to do anything.'

Talent show biopics: who should be next?

With the release of the Paul Potts movie and news that Susan Boyle will soon be immortalised on film too, here are the reality TV biopics we'd really like to see

The future of cinema is here, and it's got lots of films about TV talent show contestants in it. Following One Chance, the surprisingly well-received biopic of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts, plans are now afoot to make a similar film about Susan Boyle.

This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. After all, they're both stories about plucky down-on-their-luck everypeople who dared to dream and finally made it big. It's the same story as Rocky, or The Karate Kid, or 8 Mile, but with faux-operatic wailing and Amanda Holden instead of rap battles and Mr Miyagi. The stories of Potts and Boyle couldn't be any more cinematic if they tried.

So now the floodgates are open. The race is on to find the next lucky recipient of a talent show biopic. If any movie producers happen to be reading, here's who I'd suggest.

Whatever Happened To Stevie Brookstein?

As the very first winner of The X Factor, Steve Brookstein expected a life of luxurious megastardom. But slowly, things fell apart. This film will recreate the aftermath of his victory, from the initial dizzying glory to the years he spent in a windowless basement, forlornly cursing X Factor on Twitter to anyone who'd listen. But they didn't listen. They never listened.

Dude, Where Me Keys?

Mr Zip is a career-focused lawyer and divorced father. He loves spending time with his young son, but has a habit of giving precedence to his job. Ultimately, Mr Zip misses his son's fifth birthday party due to work commitments. The son makes a birthday wish that his father would lose both his keys and his phone for an entire day: a wish that immediately becomes true. Our film follows Mr Zip's increasingly madcap search for his keys and his phone, and the hilarious scrapes he gets into because he can't call people or use doors properly any more. Eventually, Mr Zip realises that the love of his son is more important that being able to get inside places or making important calls, and vows never to ring anybody or unlock anything ever again.

Ashleigh and Pudsey: They Shoot Puppies, Don't They?

The gut-wrenching Mommie Dearest-style tale of Ashleigh and Pudsey, the dancing dog act that won Britain's Got Talent in 2012. Ashleigh fears for her life under the tyrannical rule and fierce ambition of Pudsey the dog. "Dance faster!" the dog roars. "Smile harder!" Ashleigh, forced to sleep on the floor and eat out of a bowl while Pudsey eats steak and drinks from the finest toilets, tries to protest. "Your nose is too close to my bottom, Pudsey," she meekly cries. "I'm not comfortable with this." Pudsey strikes Ashleigh across the face. "I'll tell you what you're comfortable with, you ungrateful cow." Ashleigh catches sight of a butterfly on her windowsill. "One day," she thinks, "I'll fly away just like you."

Wagner: Requiem For a Bongo

An epic story – unparalleled in terms of scale and ambition – telling the story of Wagner Carrilho from the moment of his conception to the time of his death, as the cyborg captain of the intergalactic star-destroyer HMS BattleFist 250 years from now. The film will include (but will not be limited to): his adolescence in Brazil, his hobby of going outside in just his pants and grabbing lions by their tails, his time as a PE teacher in Dudley, his X Factor bongo medley of She Bangs and Love Shack, the time that his X Factor bongo medley of She Bangs and Love Shack was adopted by Planet Earth as its first official unified anthem, his leading role in the defence of the planet against the invasion of the flaming insectoid robot vampire aliens, his discovery of sustainable fusion power, a perpetual motion machine and the cure for the common cold within a single weekend and, of course, his brief but beloved tenure as Undisputed Emperor of the Universe. This film has it all. You'll laugh. You'll cry. Most importantly, you'll bongo.

Nicole Scherzinger hits back at Simon Cowell for his Miss Dynamix X Factor tweet: ‘You R crazy!’

This weekend, we were a bit gutted to say goodbye to Miss Dynamix and their fabulous hair from this year’s X Factor competition, but as soon as we saw they were up against Hannah Barrett in the sing off, it was always gonna happen wasn’t it?

But one person who jumped to their defence was Simon Cowell, who revealed that if he’d been sitting on the judging panel with his square haircut and nipple-height trousers, we could have had a very different result. And guess what? Nicole Scherzinger AINT IMPRESSED at his revelation, nuh uh. *finger snap*

Nicole Scherzinger

Seeing Simon tweet “I would have kept Miss Dynamix. I don’t get that decision”, Nicole put her job on the line as she declared war on the big X Factor boss, even daring to call him SHA-CRAZY for siding with the girlband over her fab act, Hannah.

“I have never had a twitter war, please don’t make me start one now @SimonCowell!”, Nicole tweeted, all guns sha-blazin’.

Lady Gaga's X Factor performance sparks hundreds of complaints

ITV stand by singer after 260 complaints received about explicit nature of pre-watershed routine

A performance by Lady Gaga on ITV's the X Factor, in which the singer cavorted on stage in flesh-coloured underwear and a bra made out of a pair of shells, has prompted 260 complaints from viewers.

Gaga appeared on the Sunday night results edition of the talent show performing her singles, Do What U Want and Venus.

About 200 viewers complained to media regulator Ofcom about the explicit nature of the performance, broadcast before the 9pm watershed, with another 60 complaints received direct by ITV.

Now in its 10th series, the X Factor is no stranger to generating a little controversy with a scantily-clad performance by a big name female guest singer.

Appearances by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera have generated a flurry of complaints in past series.

In 2011, the dance routines by Rihanna and Aguilera were both cleared of breaching broadcasting rules by Ofcom, but the regulator said they were "at the limit" of acceptability for a pre-watershed broadcast.

Jennifer Lopez's performance in another Simon Cowell-produced talent show on ITV, Britain's Got Talent, earlier this year also prompted complaints, but Ofcom decided not to investigate.

It remains to be seen whether the regulator will decide to launch a formal investigation of Sunday night's performance by Gaga.

An ITV spokeswoman said: "We do not believe Lady Gaga's performance was inappropriate for the family audience of the X Factor Results show, which has an established tradition of featuring performances from the biggest music stars.

"Lady Gaga is well known for her highly individual performance style."
