Viral Video Chart: Channing Tatum, Sandra Bullock and Tom Hiddleston

Jean-Claude Van Damme does the splits, Mike Tyson lends an ear and 10 years of The X Factor in 60 seconds

Doing the splits is the theme of this week's viral video chart and we can guarantee that opinion will be divided on the first two clips. Jean-Claude Van Damme, the Belgian martial artist, actor, and director, performs an epic stunt when he does the splits between two reversing lorries.

The stunt, filmed to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of Volvo Dynamic Steering was filmed on a Spanish airstrip at sunrise. Directed by Andreas Nilsson and with a haunting soundtrack called Only Time by Enya, it was filmed in one take.

Such a dramatic advert is, of course, wide open to parody and so our second clip features Channing Tatum, who halts filming on his latest film, 22 Jump Street, to film Jenko's epic split. Cue tension as tea trollies replace the trucks – and the result is more side-splitting than breath-taking.

Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock as Ryan Stone, is thrilling cinema audiences around the world. Spoiler alert – if you haven't seen it yet, skip the next paragraph and don't watch clip number 3. One of the most emotional parts of the film is when Stone thinks she has made contact with NASA but she has only reached a man on a radio. Jonás Cuarón – who wrote the film which his father Alfonso Cuarón directed – has made a short film showing the split side of that radio transmission scene. Aningaaq, a seven-minute companion film, will be released as part of Gravity's blu-ray edition.

Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in Thor, splits a plate of biscuits with the Cookie Monster - but only after a little lesson on delayed gratification – and we have got an ad which tries to persuade little girls to flip some stereotypes and start thinking about becoming engineers rather than princesses.

Finally, think of movie princesses and you can't help but think of Disney. We've got a preview of the new Disney movie for May 2014. Maleficent tells the story of the villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. Featuring Angeline Jolie, it reveals the events that hardened Maleficent's heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora. Dark and scary, it looks like it breaks the mould on cosy Disney heroes. Time to split, I think!
